Deployable Radiators for Satellites
Foldable deployable thermal radiator panels based on multi-loop heat pipe architecture for telecommunications satellites, stowed for launch and deployed in orbit to reject high heat loads up to 1 kW.
Description
ARQUIMEA's deployable radiators address the increasing power rejection demands of present and future communication satellites by providing panels that are stowed compactly during launch and fully deployed once the satellite reaches its operational orbit. ARQUIMEA has the expertise to design, manufacture, and test these complete deployable thermal assemblies, including the qualification of the deployment mechanism.
The deployable radiator architecture is based on Multi-Loop Heat Pipes (LHP) with embedded condenser lines, providing high power rejection and high thermal conductance. Panel surface can reach up to 6 m² per deployable panel. The complete assembly is delivered including the radiator panel, embedded loop heat pipes, and the qualified deployment mechanism, enabling rapid satellite integration.
The system operates from -160°C to +120°C and handles power ranges from 1 W to 1,000 W. Working fluids include ammonia, propylene, and ethane. ARQUIMEA has delivered deployable radiators for major telecom satellites including Electra.
