About
GOKTURK-1 is Turkey’s very high-resolution electro-optical Earth observation and reconnaissance satellite system, successfully launched from French Guiana in December 2016. The project was awarded to Telespazio-Italy (TPZ) as main contractor and Thales Alenia Space-France (TAS-F) as main subcontractor by the Presidency of Defence Industries. Turkish Aerospace directly participated in several work packages, manufacturing the satellite’s Mission Module Structure Equipped Flight Panels at its own facilities, and conducted the satellite’s environmental and functional tests at its Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT) Center before shipment to the launch site. GOKTURK-1 enables acquisition of high-resolution images from any region of Earth without geographical restriction for both military and civil applications. Since the satellite’s commissioning in December 2018, Turkish Aerospace has continued to provide operations, maintenance, technical support and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) services.
