About
SpaceStrut is a family of structural parts such as struts, booms, rods, bars and beams, offered in two variants. Hybrid Struts combine composite tubes with metallic fittings for a turnkey, best-value solution: tubes are produced via filament winding, thermoplastic or prepreg technology in circular, rectangular or other cross-sections, with metallic fittings in aluminium, titanium, invar or other materials, bonded and riveted joints qualified across wide temperature and load ranges, and threads, close-tolerance holes, bearings, surface treatment and heat treatment available on demand. Full CFRP Struts are an integral single carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer piece with continuous fibres including fittings, offering maximum lightweight and dimensional stability with no thermal expansion and insensitivity to thermal cycling; a special DoubleZero variant offers zero coefficient of thermal expansion and moisture expansion. Applications include spacecraft primary structures, launcher structures, telescope structures, bipods and hexapods, booms, deployable structures, and lunar and planetary lander structures.
