About Space Structures GmbH

Space Structures GmbH was founded in 2011 in Bremen, Germany, by two university friends, Florian Ruess and Dr. Benjamin Braun. The company began as a small engineering consulting firm and relocated to Berlin in 2014, where it remains headquartered today.

The company achieved its first project actually flown in orbit in 2016 (ExoMars 2016 Trace Gas Orbiter), and its heritage now spans more than 200 missions and over 500 completed projects for more than 100 customers. Notable milestones include becoming a prime contractor for the ESA Lunar Gateway I-HAB module's internal secondary structures, delivering the first project to GEO in 2017 (Hispasat 36W-1 on the SmallGEO platform), and, since 2022, supplying its family of launch vehicle adapters for rideshare missions.

Space Structures specializes in mechanical subsystems for space applications: structural engineering, finite element analysis, thermal analysis, CAD design, fracture control, vibro-acoustic analysis, and structural optimization. It supports customers from initial concept through to manufactured, tested, and delivered hardware, working with primes, subcontractors, spacecraft operators, and launch service providers alike.

The company's facility is certified to AS9100 and ISO 9001, and all products are manufactured in Europe. Space Structures serves institutional, corporate, SME, and New Space clients, and counts Airbus DS, Thales, BST, and IAI among its clients and partners.
