About

The SP0-S is Aitech’s current-generation radiation-tolerant 3U CompactPCI SBC, built around the NXP PowerQUICC III MPC8548E processor operating at 1.0 GHz with a 400 MHz Core Complex Bus. It incorporates 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM at 400 MHz with ECC protection, 1 GB ECC-protected user Flash, and redundant ECC boot memory banks—providing comprehensive memory protection throughout the storage hierarchy.

With full radiation hardness exceeding 100 krad (Si) total ionizing dose and latch-up immunity beyond 65 MeV-cm²/mg, the SP0-S is qualified for the rigors of high-altitude, near-Earth orbit, LEO, and GEO missions. It improves upon its predecessor, the SP0, with higher DDR2 memory bandwidth at reduced power consumption, making it the recommended choice for all new designs.

The board provides two Gigabit Ethernet ports, three RS-422 asynchronous serial ports, five single-ended TTL I/O lines, four high-performance DMA engines, four 32-bit timers, three watchdog timers, three radiation-hard onboard temperature sensors, and six microcontroller-based A/D monitors. A standard 32-bit/33 MHz PMC site allows integration of additional I/O mezzanine modules. Compliant with PICMG 2.0 Rev. 3.0, the SP0-S supports VxWorks 6.7 and 6.9 real-time operating systems.
