About
The S993 is Aitech’s highest-capacity radiation-tolerant non-volatile memory board, providing up to 1 TB of NAND Flash storage (256 GB base configuration, expandable to 1 TB with all 8 NAND modules) in a single-slot 3U CompactPCI conduction-cooled format. It is designed for reliable data storage in both in-orbit spaceflight and downlink communications to ground stations.
Data integrity is maintained through hardware EDAC providing single-bit error correction and double-bit error detection across all stored data. A PCI DMA engine with interrupt support provides high-throughput data transfers to and from the host processor. The onboard Flash File Driver (FFD) implements POSIX-compliant file access, Flash Translation Layer (FTL) for transparent wear leveling across all NAND cells, and ensures data consistency across power cycles.
The board interfaces via a 32-bit CompactPCI bus at either 33 MHz or 66 MHz, supporting both standard and high-bandwidth system configurations. The S993 serves as the mass data storage backbone for Earth observation payloads, science instruments, and high-definition imaging systems.
