About

The S992 is a radiation-tolerant high-capacity Flash memory board in 3U CompactPCI format, providing scalable non-volatile storage from 8 to 64 GB through one to eight individually addressable NAND Flash modules. The board is designed to operate in space radiation environments with built-in hardware EDAC providing single-bit error correction and double-bit error detection across all stored data.

A PCI DMA engine with interrupt support enables high-throughput data transfers over the 32-bit CompactPCI bus at 33.333 MHz without CPU involvement, offloading data management from the host processor. Flash file management software with wear leveling is available, extending media lifetime by distributing write cycles evenly across all NAND cells. The modular NAND Flash architecture uses 3D-Plus radiation-tolerant modules.

With power consumption below 2 watts nominal, the S992 is one of the most power-efficient mass storage options in Aitech’s space portfolio, serving LEO and GEO satellite data handling applications.
