About
The S-A6640 is a landmark product in space networking — the first standalone small form factor Ethernet switch/router designed and validated specifically for NEO and LEO orbital missions. It provides 12 ports of 10/100/1000 Base-T copper connectivity with full wire-speed non-blocking forwarding, enabling high-bandwidth data interconnection between onboard electronic systems without performance bottlenecks.
Features include access control list (ACL) support, QoS packet scheduling, port mirroring, jumbo frame support up to 10 kB, and fast boot for rapid system initialization. Power and I/O are routed through D38999 military-specification circular connectors, providing robust connections to the spacecraft harness. The enclosure is IP54 sealed and incorporates EMI/RFI filtering, vibration and shock resistance, and lightning protection to survive launch and orbital environments.
System health monitoring is provided through integrated temperature sensors, a watchdog timer, and power monitoring circuits. The S-A6640 represents Aitech’s expansion from board-level computing into spacecraft-level network infrastructure, enabling standard IP and Ethernet protocols across the entire spacecraft computing fabric.
