About
ScienceShells are Yuri’s flight-proven hardware portfolio of experiment containers (outer shells) and specific experiment inserts (inner shells) that fly inside the ScienceTaxi incubator. Ground models are available for testing, alongside flight models for launch. The portfolio spans active cell-culturing modules (Type IV and Type V), passive petri-dish style culture chambers (2×2-Chamber, 4-Chamber, 8-Chamber), a Mini Aquarium for aquatic research, and a Greenhouse module for plant growth. ScienceShells are compatible with ISS facilities operated by partners including Space Tango, Bioserve, LaMont, ICE Cubes, and Kayser Italia, and have been launched on SpaceX and Northrop Grumman rockets for research groups including UCLA and Charité Berlin. The Type IV shell, Yuri’s most commonly used ScienceShell, has flown to the ISS multiple times on cancer, immune and stem-cell culturing experiments.
