About
The SGDC (Geostationary Defense and Strategic Communications Satellite) is a Brazilian federal government program delivering broadband internet coverage to 100% of national territory as part of the National Broadband Plan, alongside a secure, sovereign channel for government and defense communications. Visiona was established as Brazil’s satellite systems integrator on this program, participating in the Technology Absorption Program and managing the Technology Transfer Program that trained Brazilian engineers (including assembly, integration and test work with international partner Thales Alenia Space) and seeded capabilities later reused on the VCUB1 nanosatellite program. SGDC connects more than 25,000 access points nationwide, including public schools, hospitals, health units, and indigenous and quilombola communities. Visiona’s systems-integration scope spans mission analysis, systems engineering, satellite engineering, and ground-segment support (including flight dynamics and real-time telemetry/telecommand systems) built on the experience gained through SGDC and applied to subsequent national missions.
