About
Scotty is the user terminal for LEO satellites accessing Skyloom’s network. It enables multi-Gbps data transfer from LEO to the cloud by connecting LEO assets with Skyloom’s GEO relay node. Satellites in LEO orbit the earth in less than two hours, meaning a given satellite is in view of any ground point for only a few minutes, severely limiting the opportunity to offload data. Rather than depend on these short windows to communicate directly with the ground, Skyloom’s OCTs connect satellites in LEO to its high-capacity, multi-user optical relay satellites in geostationary orbit (GEO). LEO user satellites carrying Scotty OCTs are scheduled to communicate with the Skyloom network without the need for direct Ground-LEO links.
