About
The USB Debug Adapter is a piece of Pumpkin development hardware used to provide a USB serial interface — and power where required — to various Pumpkin modules, without having to host USB-to-serial electronics and a connector on the target module itself. It can be connected to any Pumpkin module equipped with a 4-pin FPC serial terminal/debug connector.
The adapter’s I/O level is selectable between 3.3V (default) and 5V, allowing it to interface with modules using either logic level. In addition to providing a data interface, the USB Debug Adapter can supply either 3.3V or 5V power to the connected device, making it useful both for firmware debugging/console access and for powering a module under bench test.
It is used elsewhere in Pumpkin’s product line as an accessory — for example, it is included with the Intelligent Protected Lithium Battery Module (BM2) to provide the debugging terminal interface required for firmware updates via Pumpkin’s dedicated Windows GUI.
