Pluggable Processor Module E1 (PPM E1)

PPM E1 is a pluggable processor module (PPM) for use with the CubeSat-compatible Motherboard Module (MBM). This is flight hardware (blue). By adding a PPM E1 to an MBM, the user creates a CubeSat-compatible Command & Data Handling (C&DH) module built around a Microchip PIC24FJ256GB210 16-bit low-power microcontroller (MCU). PPM E1 has a PIC24FJ256GB210 with 256 KB internal Flash memory and 96 KB internal RAM, and enables up to 16 MIPS operation via its 8 MHz external crystal. PPM E1 also has an on-board, external AT25DF641 64 Mbit SPI serial Flash memory chip.

Each unit includes a fully tested PPM E1 with a Microchip PIC24FJ256GB210 soldered in place. PPM E1 is part of the CubeSat Kit flight hardware line and plugs into a Motherboard Module (MBM); it is used on flight hardware to run fully debugged PIC24 software and to control fully debugged hardware on the CubeSat Kit. PPM E1 is electrically identical to PSPM E, so software developed on PSPM E will run identically on PPM E1 in a flight environment.

Compatibility: Motherboard Module (MBM), Development Board (DB), JFPC-PIC24, Microchip PIC24FJ256GB210. PPM E1 is compatible with the MBM (and DB) but not compatible with the newer MBM 2.

PPM E1 is included in: the CubeSat Kit /PIC24 with PIC24FJ256GB210 (PSPM E + PPM E1) and the CubeSat Kit Upgrade to PIC24 with PIC24FJ256GB210 (PSPM E + PPM E1). It carries Flight Hardware, Flight Qualified, and Space Proven classifications, indicating flight heritage.

Purchasing restrictions: prospective customers must purchase an entire CubeSat Kit first before purchasing additional PPM E1s a la carte; it is available only to customers who have already purchased a CubeSat Kit /PIC24 (PIC24FJ256GB210), with proof of prior purchase required.
