About
Chassis Walls are the primary structural element of a CubeSat Kit™ structure and represent Pumpkin’s pioneering, flight-proven sheet-metal approach to nanosatellite construction. Flight Hardware, Flight Qualified, and Space Proven, they are precision constructed from Al 5052-H32 and plated according to the CubeSat Design Specification (CDS).
Each Chassis Walls is manufactured as a single one-piece part that is extremely strong and light, offering a 97mm x 97mm internal cross-sectional volume in which the satellite’s bus and payload modules are placed and secured. Chassis Walls are available in multiple lengths — 0.5U, 1U, 1.5U, 2U, and 3U — to support CubeSats of the corresponding form factor, and each size is offered in both Solid-Wall and Skeletonized (mass-reduced, lattice-cut) versions, all available from stock.
A Chassis Walls must be combined with a Base Plate Assembly and a Cover Plate Assembly to create a complete CubeSat Kit structure. For example, a complete 2U CubeSat Kit skeletonized structure consists of part numbers 703-00291 (Chassis Walls), 710-00294, and 710-00296 (Base/Cover Plate Assemblies). Pre-drilled mounting holes on the 1U, 1.5U, 2U and 3U sizes accept one or more Mid-plane Standoff Kits based on length. CAD models and the CubeSat Kit (CSAK) Chassis datasheet (specific dimensions and masses) are available from Pumpkin.
