About
The Base Plate Assembly forms one end of a CubeSat Kit™ structure — typically the end housing the Motherboard Module (MBM) C&DH subsystem. It is precision constructed from Al 5052-H32 and plated according to the CubeSat Design Specification (CDS). Each Large-Aperture Base Plate Assembly is secured to the Chassis Walls via six M3 flathead stainless-steel screws.
Solid-wall and skeletonized versions are available from stock, matching the Chassis Walls configuration. Users can choose base plates with a single separation switch (now deprecated) or with dual, independent separation switches; each separation switch provides C, NC and NO solder terminals, with the second switch located on the corner diagonally opposite the first, for redundant deployment sensing per the CubeSat Design Specification.
Note: the single-switch version is being phased out, as Pumpkin moved to a dual-switch architecture in 2012 with the introduction of the Motherboard Module (MBM) Rev E. As Flight Hardware, this assembly is Flight Qualified and Space Proven.
