About
The Static Test System (Static Star Testing System, SSTS) is a ground support test rig built around three integrated subsystems: an Optical Star Pattern Simulator (OSPS), a reference star tracker, and an image acquisition system. The OSPS projects a static, fixed star field (based on the north celestial pole area or a customizable star pattern) that the star tracker under test observes, enabling verification of the star tracker’s static pointing and rolling attitude accuracy (3 arcsec/50 arcsec at 3-sigma). The image acquisition system captures, displays in real time, and stores the resulting imagery/data for analysis, supporting quality assurance, calibration, and functional verification of star trackers in a controlled, static (non-dynamic) test scenario, complementing the Dynamic Test System for full-envelope validation.
