About
The Dynamic Test System (Dynamic Testing System, DTS) is a semi-physical simulation ground test rig combining a Dynamic Star Simulator (DSS), a reference star tracker, and an image acquisition system. The DSS receives quaternion attitude data from a simulator computer and, based on that data, generates a real-time dynamic star field output, effectively simulating the changing star field a star tracker would see as the satellite maneuvers in orbit. The star tracker under test observes this simulated dynamic sky and its resulting attitude output is measured for pointing/rolling accuracy (3 arcsec/50 arcsec at 3-sigma), while the image acquisition system captures, displays in real time, and stores test imagery/data. This closed-loop, dynamic test configuration allows engineers to validate star tracker tracking performance and dynamic response under realistic simulated satellite motion, complementing the Static Test System for full test coverage.
