About
NovaSAR is a small S-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) mission designed for low-cost programmes and optimised for shared launch opportunities. It baselines SSTL-MINI platform avionics with an imaging payload developed by the spaceborne SAR team at Airbus in Portsmouth, UK. Launched on 16 September 2018 from India with UK government support, NovaSAR provides global access with an average revisit of 3-4 days and supports maritime, forestry and disaster response applications, plus a secondary AIS payload providing information on detected ships.
