About

Satellite Honghu is a 50kg-class space science experiment satellite independently designed and produced by Spacety, launched 9 December 2023 on a Zhuque-2 Telemetry-3 carrier rocket from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center alongside Satellite TY-33. Honghu carries an integrated electronic payload, a xenon-gas Hall effect thruster payload and a krypton-gas Hall effect thruster payload developed by Shanghai Lanjian Hongqin Science and Technology, tasked with orbit-control function/performance verification and thousands of hours of ignition and power-cycling life tests — the first Chinese attempt at cumulative 100 km-level orbit control experiments using xenon and krypton permanent-magnet electric thrusters. It also carries the ‘Xingcheng II’ argon-gas ion thruster developed by Xingcheng Huiyu (Beijing) Technology, which uses low-cost argon propellant and ionization/acceleration separation to reach up to 1,500 seconds of specific impulse with a wide thrust-adjustment range, aimed at orbit injection, constellation attitude adjustment, and satellite decommissioning.
