About
The BusCORE Satellite RF Terminal is a Space-Friendly, dual cold-redundant radiocommunication infrastructure for small satellites, with 2 MB of MRAM data buffer storage per radio and two UART ports accessible over combined connectors. It uses a dedicated hardware radio implementation optimized for long-range, high-data-rate links, claimed to exceed legacy amateur radio link systems by 6-10 dB link margin with fast RX/TX switching. Data frames carry CRC checks plus telemetry messaging, uptime and packet counters, RSSI and noise-floor measurement at the antenna port; Time-of-Flight ranging with 65,000 addresses supports multi-node swarm operations. It operates in the UHF amateur band 435.000-438.000 MHz with 2GFSK modulation at variable bitrates (1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400 bps), automatic bitrate fallback to a 4800 bps nominal setting, automatic cold-redundant MOSFET-free switchover, automatic AFC (no Doppler compensation needed), and 9600 bps AX.25/G3RUH framing for legacy ground segment compatibility. Sensitivity reaches -120 dBm at 1200 bps and -106 dBm at 38400 bps (5% PER), supporting up to 3000 km slant range and LEO altitudes up to 1000 km; the design is TRL-9 with 5+ years of on-orbit heritage at 530 km SSO. RF output power is +30 to +33 dBm with thermal management for a full 15-minute pass. The unit measures 95.9×90.8×18 mm, weighs 140 g, and connects via a PC/104+ stack connector (power, 2x UART) and two MCX-Female antenna ports, rated -40 to +85 degC.
