Hermes In-Space Propulsion Unit
Integrated hydrogen-peroxide monopropellant propulsion unit for small satellite maneuvering.
About
Hermes (RDX Integrated Propulsion Unit) is Reaction Dynamics’ integrated in-space propulsion system designed for unparalleled mobility and mission flexibility on small satellites. It combines a 1N monopropellant thruster, propellant storage, pressurant tanks, and integrated avionics into a compact 4U CubeSat-form-factor package. The unit runs on 98%-decomposition-rate hydrogen peroxide, a non-toxic, storable, REACH-compliant green propellant that Reaction Dynamics states delivers roughly 40% higher density impulse than hydrazine. Hermes is intended for satellite positioning, collision avoidance maneuvers, orbit maintenance, and end-of-life deorbiting, with built-in health monitoring and system control electronics, and an operational lifetime of up to five years in orbit.
