Aurora
Two-stage hybrid rocket small launch vehicle for dedicated small-satellite missions to LEO/SSO.
About
Aurora is Reaction Dynamics’ flagship two-stage small launch vehicle, designed to give small-satellite operators responsive, on-demand, sovereign access to space. Both stages use the company’s patented RE-202C hybrid rocket engines, burning liquid hydrogen peroxide oxidizer against a proprietary solid polymer fuel grain (RDX-F blend). The first stage uses eight RE-202C engines while the second stage uses two restartable RE-202C(V) engines, giving the vehicle precision insertion capability. Aurora is built with an inter-stage adapter and a standard ESPA-compatible mounting ring, and is intended to launch ITAR-free from Canadian soil in partnership with Maritime Launch Services in Nova Scotia. Reaction Dynamics targets a maiden suborbital launch in 2026 and a first orbital launch in 2028, positioning Aurora as a domestically manufactured, low-part-count, scalable and safely stockpiled launch system for both commercial and defence customers.
