Reaction Dynamics

Reaction Dynamics is a Canadian aerospace company founded in 2017 and headquartered in Longueuil, Quebec, with a hybrid rocket engine test site in Joliette, Quebec. The company describes itself as Canada's most advanced rocket company, pioneering patented hybrid rocket propulsion technology that combines a liquid oxidizer (hydrogen peroxide) with a proprietary solid fuel grain, aiming to simplify launch vehicle operations, cut costs, and provide sovereign, ITAR-free access to space for Canada and its allies.

The company's flagship product is Aurora, a two-stage small launch vehicle powered by RE-202C hybrid rocket engines (eight on the first stage, two restartable engines on the second stage), designed to deliver payloads of roughly 200 kg to low Earth orbit or 250 kg to sun-synchronous orbit. Reaction Dynamics has also developed and hot-fire tested its RE-101 hybrid engine at its Joliette site and is working with Maritime Launch Services in Nova Scotia toward a maiden suborbital flight targeted for 2026 and a first orbital launch targeted for 2028.

Beyond launch vehicles, Reaction Dynamics builds Hermes, an integrated in-space propulsion unit for small satellites that uses a non-toxic, storable hydrogen-peroxide monopropellant thruster for orbit maintenance, collision avoidance, and deorbiting maneuvers.

The company is led by CEO and CTO Bachar Elzein, alongside Chief Operating Officer Maxime Goulet-Bourdon and Chief Commercial Officer Remi Lecerf, and has received funding support including an $8 million award under Canada's Launch the North program and NATO DIANA funding toward its maiden flight demonstration.
