About
QinetiQ’s Space Domain Awareness (SDA) — Observe portfolio provides ground-based sensing and tracking capabilities for identifying, characterising, and monitoring space objects and space weather. The suite combines distributed multi-static RF sensing, optical tracking, and predictive modelling to deliver cost-effective space object tracking.
Capabilities include: Distributed Coherent Sensing Networks (multi-static RF tracking using geographically distributed sensors); Space Weather Sensors and Modelling (ground-based sensing with predictive impact models); Software Defined Laser / Synthetic Aperture Lidar (SAL) for target ranging, imaging, and vibrometry; and Transportable Optical Ground Station (deployable precision optical sensing and communications station). QinetiQ integrates allied space sensors into NATO’s Integrated Air and Missile Defence (IAMD) framework.
