About

NEMO-HD is the first Slovenian microsatellite, exploring a new Earth observation concept by combining interactive real-time video streaming and multispectral imaging at 2.8 m ground resolution. Operated by SPACE-SI, it was developed in collaboration with the Space Flight Laboratory at the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies. In addition to its two optical payloads, the satellite carries a three-axis attitude determination and control system, body-mounted solar panels, and a Li-ion battery pack. Command and telemetry use a UHF receiver and S-band transmitter, while payload data are downloaded via a 50 Mbps X-band transmitter. Together with SPACE-SI’s transportable STREAM ground station and STORM data-processing chain, NEMO-HD forms an agile, cost-effective remote sensing system for smart cities, river basins, maritime, forestry, agriculture, drought and flood monitoring. The satellite launched aboard a Vega rocket from French Guiana on September 3, 2020.
