BlueBON
World's first blue-carbon monitoring satellite, a 6U electro-optical smallsat launched on SpaceX Transporter-12.
Description
BlueBON is a 6-unit electro-optical Earth observation satellite designed to detect, track, and quantify blue carbon — carbon stored in oceanic and coastal ecosystems. Launched on SpaceX's Transporter-12 rideshare mission in January 2025, it has been used operationally to detect red-tide algae blooms and potential oil slicks. BlueBON won a CES Innovation Award in 2024 and represents TelePIX's first fully operational Earth observation satellite, combining a compact 6U form factor with high-resolution multispectral imaging capability for environmental monitoring applications.
