About
AirSAT is Stars Edge’s modular satellite platform designed for operation in Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO), below 450 km altitude, where atmospheric drag is significant but proximity to Earth benefits imaging resolution and communications latency. Available in configurations from 4U to 12U, AirSAT integrates with the company’s AERIS air-breathing plasma propulsion system to compensate for atmospheric drag, enabling extended or indefinite mission duration without requiring onboard propellant resupply. The platform is aimed at commercial Earth observation and communications operators seeking to exploit the unique advantages of the VLEO regime — closer proximity to targets for higher resolution imaging and reduced signal latency compared to traditional LEO constellations.
