About
Starcloud-1 is Starcloud’s first orbital compute demonstration satellite, flying an NVIDIA H100 GPU to validate the company’s core thesis that space offers effectively unlimited solar power and a natural radiative heat sink for high-density AI compute. In late 2025, Starcloud-1 successfully trained and ran large language model workloads in orbit — the first demonstration of GPU-based AI compute of this kind in space. The mission proved the technical viability of running commercial-grade AI hardware in the space environment, validating power generation, thermal management, and compute reliability under orbital conditions, and directly informing the design of Starcloud’s planned commercial orbital data center missions.
