About

The FDSS (Fine Digital Sun Sensor) from Solar MEMS is a very accurate sun sensor immune to Earth albedo and any other unexpected albedo sources. It captures images of the Sun in less than one millisecond, identifies the Sun and other light sources, and can collect additional information such as the albedo vector. Its robustness is based on highly used COTS devices combined with space-grade parts; the FDSS is plug-and-play and requires no additional electronics or support modules. The 140×140° full field of view ensures continuous Sun acquisition across a wide angular range. The FDSS is a testing/ground reference instrument as well as an onboard sensor option.
