About

The Horus is Sodern’s single-housing autonomous star tracker, designed for applications where a single field of view suffices for attitude determination. Developed using innovative technologies that optimise both performance and competitiveness, the Horus has been selected by major geostationary telecom satellite platform manufacturers for AOCS (Attitude and Orbit Control System) applications.

The Horus features fully autonomous star identification and tracking in a self-contained unit, eliminating the need for separate centralised processing electronics. This simplifies spacecraft integration, reduces harness mass, and enables direct interface to the spacecraft on-board computer. The design philosophy focuses on maximising mission value per kilogram and per watt, making the Horus particularly suited to cost-optimised commercial satellite programmes.

As a product of Sodern — an ArianeGroup company with over 60 years of heritage in satellite optronic equipment — the Horus benefits from decades of flight-proven design methodology and European space qualification standards.
