Skycorp Incorporated
Intelligent Space Systems Interface (iSSI)

Standard, robotic on-orbit connector/bus interface providing power, data, bandwidth and physical rigidity for modular payload integration.

About

The Intelligent Space Systems Interface (iSSI) is Skycorp’s core connector technology and the backbone of its Orbital Logistics Vehicle architecture. It is described as the robotic connector that enables modular payloads on the OLV, providing a standard bus interface with power, connectivity, bandwidth and physical rigidity, allowing payloads to be integrated and exchanged flexibly rather than being fixed at launch. Skycorp flight-qualified the technology through its Intelligent Space Systems Interface Flight Qualification Experiment (iSSI FQE), which was delivered to the International Space Station in February 2022, funded by the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), the ISS National Lab, and NASA, demonstrating on-orbit connector operation. The interface has also been qualified to TRL-6 in a configuration built around Phison’s 8TB SSD for Lonestar Data Holdings’ Lunar Datacenter payload, planned for delivery to the Moon via an Intuitive Machines lunar lander.
