Skycorp Incorporated

Skycorp Incorporated was founded in 1998 by Dennis Wingo to revolutionize how orbital vehicles are developed, deployed and operated. Based in Santa Clara, California, the company works at the intersection of in-space manufacturing, on-orbit servicing of existing spacecraft, and orbital logistics systems, partnering with NASA and other organizations on multiple space initiatives.

Skycorp's flagship program is the Orbital Logistics Vehicle (OLV), a space platform built around a common interface bus that allows customized payloads from third parties to be hosted and swapped in orbit, in the same way that Open Compute standardized data-center hardware design on the ground. The OLV is launched inside a protective container and assembled on-orbit at the International Space Station, enabling a lighter-weight design while still protecting the vehicle from launch loads.

The backbone of the OLV architecture is the Intelligent Space Systems Interface (iSSI), a standardized bus interface delivering power, data connectivity, bandwidth and physical rigidity so that modular payloads can be integrated flexibly. Skycorp flight-qualified iSSI hardware through an ISS experiment, the Fluid Quick Exchange (FQE) payload, which was delivered to the International Space Station and demonstrated on-orbit connector operations.

Skycorp has pursued NASA-related work, including recognition in the NASA Centennial "Watts on the Moon" challenge, and continues development toward flight of its modular OLV platform.
