About
The Adcole Space Sun Sensor Stimulator System is a dedicated ground support equipment (GSE) product that provides optical stimulus to sun sensor hardware for ground checkout operations. The system uses infrared LEDs to illuminate the cells of each sun sensor, simulating the solar illumination the sensor will experience in flight and enabling technicians to verify sun sensor functionality, sensor aliveness, and the integrity of flight harnesses.
The stimulator system includes control panels that contain the necessary circuitry to drive an array of individual stimulators matched to the configuration of the sun sensor being tested. Front panel controls and/or computer inputs allow both manual and automated test sequences. The system is powered from standard 100–240 VAC, 50 or 60 Hz power, making it compatible with international test facilities.
Sun sensor stimulators are essential for spacecraft-level integration and test (I&T), enabling functional checkout without requiring actual solar illumination or solar simulation facilities.
