About
The Adcole Space Star Field Simulator is a ground support equipment (GSE) tool designed to generate a simulated star field for functional testing and verification of star tracker hardware during spacecraft integration and test (I&T). By projecting a realistic synthetic star pattern into the star tracker optical aperture, the simulator enables full end-to-end functional verification of the star identification algorithms, attitude computation, and data output interfaces without requiring an actual dark sky environment.
The simulator supports spacecraft-level checkouts of the SpectraTRAC and other Adcole/Redwire star trackers, enabling verification of Lost in Space initialization, tracking performance, quaternion output accuracy, and communication interfaces in a controlled laboratory environment. This reduces test complexity and cost compared to outdoor star viewing campaigns.
The Star Field Simulator is part of Redwire’s comprehensive suite of GN&C test products, complementing the Sun Sensor Stimulator System, engineering models, and control panel GSE offerings.
