About
ACT’s Phase Change Material (PCM) solutions exploit the latent heat of solid-to-liquid phase transitions to absorb thermal energy with minimal temperature rise, providing one to two orders of magnitude more thermal storage per unit mass than sensible-heat approaches. This makes PCM devices ideal for duty-cycled electronics and LEO satellite applications where electronics generate heat in bursts.
PCM Heat Sinks are standalone devices mechanically coupled directly to heat sources, allowing conduction of heat into the PCM material through enhanced internal structures — fins, embedded heat pipes, or metal foams — that overcome the inherently poor thermal conductivity of typical PCM materials. PCM Heat Exchangers are integrated into thermal control loops to dampen pulse loads between electronics and radiator loops.
