Flamingo-1
Operational SSA microsatellite carrying an optical camera payload, launched into a dusk-dawn sun-synchronous orbit to track space objects for Vyoma's Space Surveillance & Tracking service.
Description
Flamingo-1 is the first satellite of Vyoma's in-orbit Space Situational Awareness constellation. Owned and operated by Vyoma, it carries an optical camera payload used to generate Space Surveillance & Tracking data: surveillance enables cataloguing of space objects and event detection, while tracking allows rapid follow-up on objects of interest. Even as a single satellite, Flamingo-1 provides critical follow-up capabilities and observations of orbital regions that are otherwise difficult to access from the ground. It is a microsatellite platform with full-axis attitude control and electric propulsion, designed for a 5-year operational lifetime.
