About Theia Space

Theia Space is a Spanish space systems engineering company that grew out of E-USOC, the ESA-delegated centre at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) responsible for operating scientific payloads on the International Space Station. The team's roots trace back to QBITO, UPM's first CubeSat, developed for the FP7 QB50 constellation programme, and the wider engineering expertise built through E-USOC's ISS payload operations work.

Building on that heritage, Theia Space develops nanosatellite missions, satellite subsystems and attitude and orbit control (AOCS) solutions, covering systems engineering, communications, on-board software, guidance navigation and control, structural and thermal design, and satellite operations. Its flagship commercial product is ESAT, a fully functional 10x10x10 cm CubeSat-standard training satellite with electrical power, attitude determination and control, command and data handling, structure, thermal and communications subsystems, plus its own Wi-Fi ground segment and GUI software.

ESAT is used as a hands-on space-engineering training tool at all levels, from STEM outreach in schools to university coursework and professional training in industry, and has been selected by ESA Academy for its educational programmes. It is sold and supported through Theia Space directly as well as via the CubeSatShop marketplace, with customers spanning universities and institutions worldwide seeking realistic, extensible satellite hardware for teaching integration, testing and operations.
