Satrec Initiative

Satrec Initiative (SI) was founded in 1999 by core members of the team that developed Korea's first microsatellites, the KITSATs, in the early 1990s. The company has grown into South Korea's leading private satellite manufacturer, specializing in high-resolution Earth observation satellites and turnkey satellite system solutions for both domestic and international customers.

SI's key satellite platforms include the SpaceSight optical EO family — with resolutions from 1.0 m to sub-meter — and the KOMPSAT-series heritage architecture. The company has exported satellites to the UAE (DubaiSat-1, DubaiSat-2, KhalifaSat), Spain (Deimos-2), and other international customers, establishing Korea's space industry credentials on the global market. SI also develops the SpaceEye-T very high resolution satellite family targeting sub-50 cm imagery.

Beyond satellite hardware, SI provides ground systems software, mission operations support, and capacity building programs for national space programs. The company operates ground stations in South Korea and has supported Korea's growing ambitions in Earth observation, remote sensing, and commercial space services. SI is listed on the Korean KOSDAQ exchange.
