About Kuva Space

Kuva Space was founded in 2016 in Espoo, Finland by Tuomas Tikka and Janne Kuhno as Reaktor Space Lab, a spinout collaboration with the Finnish software consultancy Reaktor. For its first years the company developed a proprietary CubeSat nanosatellite platform, launching Reaktor Hello World in November 2018 — Finland's first commercially built nanosatellite, carrying a miniaturized NIR hyperspectral imager. Further technology-demonstration CubeSats followed, including W-Cube and Sunstorm in 2021.

In September 2021 the company rebranded from Reaktor Space Lab to Kuva Space, shifting its business model from selling satellite hardware to operating its own hyperspectral imaging constellation and selling Earth-observation data and analytics as a service under its Kuva Sense platform.

Kuva Space now operates the Hyperfield satellite series: Hyperfield-1 (a 12 kg, 6U CubeSat in 500 km sun-synchronous orbit with a patented tunable VNIR hyperspectral imager covering 475-950 nm at 25 m resolution; HF-1A launched August 2024, HF-1B June 2025) and the larger Hyperfield-2 microsatellite (70 kg, 450-1,650 nm spectral range, 15 m resolution, planned 2026 launch), working toward a constellation of 100 satellites by 2030 for sub-daily global hyperspectral coverage. The company raised a €16.6M Series A in November 2023 and has expanded into the US market, including a NASA contract for commercial satellite data acquisition.
