About Quadsat ApS

Founded in 2017 in Odense, Denmark, Quadsat ApS pioneered the use of drone technology to transform how satellite antennas are tested and calibrated. Co-founders Joakim Espeland (CEO) and Andrian Buchi (CTO) — drawing on backgrounds in electrical engineering, telecom, and satellite communications for the oil and gas sector — identified a need for more agile, cost-effective ground segment testing solutions. The company grew out of research at UAS Denmark and is headquartered at the UAS Denmark Test Center at Hans Christian Andersen Airport.

Quadsat's core SATCOM offering is a fully automated, location-independent drone-based system consisting of a professional-grade UAV, a custom-built RF payload, a ground control station, an RTK GNSS system, and proprietary measurement software. The drone flies in programmable patterns in front of an antenna, simulating a satellite signal source, enabling operators to measure full 2D and 3D radiation patterns, polarization, cross-polar discrimination (XPD), pointing accuracy, and tracking performance — all without waiting for live satellite passes. The system has been tested on antennas from 40 cm to 17 metres and has been deployed by customers including ESA, SES, Eutelsat, OneWeb, GovSat, and Telespazio.

In 2025, Quadsat expanded with the QS RF Locator (interference geolocation) and SpectraLoc (Electronic Warfare payload for Groups 2–5 UAVs), pivoting toward defence markets. The company raised a $5.8M Series A in August 2025, is ISO 9001 certified, and received the WTA Teleport Technology of the Year Award.

Products

7

Drone-based RF direction-finding system that locates sources of RF interference, RFI, and signal degradation on ground station antennas in real time.

1 5

UAV-based RF antenna measurement system for satellite ground stations, covering 1–18 GHz (downlink), providing far-field pattern data without shutting down live links.

1 8

UAV-based satellite antenna measurement system covering 6–24 GHz (C, Ku, Ka-band) downlink — drone flies precision trajectories for in-situ far-field measurements.

1 6

Drone-based satellite antenna test and calibration system supporting the full antenna lifecycle, tailored for LEO and multi-orbit terminals.

2 4

UAV-based satellite pass emulator that flies real orbital trajectories for LEO/MEO satellites, enabling end-to-end RF link testing and autotracking validation against live-equivalent passes.

1 6

Compact airborne RF payload for passive threat detection, direction-finding, and geolocation, built for small UAV integration.

3 4

End-to-end satellite antenna measurement service: Quadsat engineers deploy on-site with the QS drone system, execute measurement campaigns, and deliver full pattern reports.
