About
The Plugim is XIROI’s flagship electrospray thruster designed for CubeSats and small satellite platforms. Built on technology refined over six years of R&D, it tightly packs multiple electrospray sources in a compact form factor to deliver exceptional performance per unit volume.
Key features include a fully self-neutralizing design (no separate neutralizer required), complete scalability from single to multi-thruster configurations, and throttleability across a wide range of thrust levels. The system targets greater than 2000 Ns total impulse, greater than 800 s specific impulse, and greater than 0.35 mN thrust — all within less than 10 W power consumption.
The Plugim is ITAR-free and engineered specifically for the rigorous demands of space missions. Its compact footprint (< 9.5 × 9.5 × 5 cm) and wet mass under 550 g make it ideal for 1U–6U CubeSat platforms requiring precise orbit maintenance, attitude control, or deorbit capability. Partners include Cranfield University, UPC, and the Institut d'Estudis Espacials de Catalunya (IEEC).
