About

The DMSS 3990 is Totum Labs’ massively integrated endpoint System-on-Chip — a ‘tracker-on-a-chip’ that combines the Totum DMSS direct-to-satellite modem, RF transceiver (including power amplifier), a dedicated applications processor and memory, and a power-management subsystem in a single 8x8mm QFN package. Co-developed and manufactured with Orca Systems on a 22nm Global Foundries process, the chip connects sensors and trackers directly to Totum’s Low Earth Orbit nanosatellite constellation over the unlicensed 2.4 GHz ISM band, without gateways, SIM cards, or external antennas. It supports building-level indoor connectivity via multilateration-based positioning (no GNSS receiver required) and is designed for sub-$10 tracker bill-of-materials when combined with sensors, battery and enclosure. Security is handled via AES CCM encryption, secure key storage, and eFUSE-based provisioning lockout.
