About

The TALOS S-Band IoT Antenna Array is a flight-ready antenna system designed specifically for satellite-based IoT communication in low Earth orbit. It forms the RF front end of the TALOS satellite payload, enabling reception of signals from ultra-compact IoT tags on the ground while the satellite travels overhead at orbital velocities.

The antenna array is engineered to handle the challenging operational environment of LEO spacecraft, including thermal cycling, radiation exposure, and vibration loads at launch. Its design is optimized for the S-band frequency range used by the TALOS IoT tag uplink protocol, providing the necessary gain and beam pattern for efficient ground signal collection.

The array has been qualified and integrated into the RAVEN microsatellite, which successfully launched on a SpaceX Falcon 9 from Vandenberg in 2026, and is being deployed across the TALOS-I CubeSat constellation for global IoT coverage.
