About

Launch Services is Space BD’s flagship space infrastructure offering, providing one-stop access to satellite launch and deployment opportunities from concept to orbit. Space BD acts as a hardware-agnostic mission integrator and broker, selecting the optimal launch solution from a diverse portfolio of Japanese and international rockets, rideshare missions, and dedicated flights. The service bundles integrated logistics and regulatory management together with satellite deployment support, including deployment from the ISS’s Japanese Experiment Module ‘Kibo’ via the JEM Small Satellite Orbital Deployer (J-SSOD). In 2018, Space BD was selected by JAXA as a service provider in JAXA’s first public tender for commercial satellite deployment services from ISS Kibo, and in 2019 was selected as the only private provider of rideshare launch opportunities on Japan’s flagship H-IIA and H3 rockets; this mandate was later extended through 2030. As of January 2026, Space BD reports having supported over 100 satellite missions, including 80+ satellite projects via the Kibo deployment business, plus recent milestones such as completing its first commercial rideshare service on the H3 launch vehicle (June 2026) and launch support for 10 satellites via SpaceX Falcon 9 rideshare missions in 2025.
