About
Gilat Satellite Networks is an Israeli VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) equipment manufacturer and broadband satellite network operator, providing affordable satellite internet to rural, remote, and underserved communities globally. Founded in 1987 and headquartered in Petah Tikva, Israel, Gilat is one of the world’s largest VSAT equipment suppliers with over 1 million terminals deployed across 100+ countries. The SkyEdge II-c platform is Gilat’s flagship hub-and-spoke VSAT system: hub equipment processes all traffic at the teleport, while small (60–180 cm) subscriber terminals connect schools, clinics, businesses, and households in locations without terrestrial broadband. The system supports Ka-band and Ku-band operations at throughputs up to 150 Mbps per terminal with DVB-S2X/DVB-RCS2 standards. Gilat provides national broadband services in Africa (cellular backhaul for MTN and Airtel in multiple countries), the Americas (rural broadband for governments in Peru, Bolivia, Colombia), and Southeast Asia. In defence, Gilat’s tactical VSAT terminals provide mobile broadband for military and government users. The company also provides satellite services in Israel via its Spacenet subsidiary and makes Stellar, a maritime VSAT system for shipping vessels.
