Sinclair Interplanetary pioneered high-reliability vacuum-lubricated reaction wheels for picosatellites, nanosatellites and microsatellites, with a built-in digital processor commandable over a serial bus for speed, momentum or torque, plus digital telemetry on speed, temperature, voltage, current and other health parameters. The 400 mNms Microsatellite Wheel is optimized for torque and radiation hardness. It can deliver performance equivalent to a 0.4 Nms control moment gyro with a 22.5 deg/sec gimbal rate, at much reduced mass and complexity, and is designed for high-agility remote sensing or science microsatellites.
