About

RUAG Space (now Beyond Gravity) is one of Europe’s leading suppliers of satellite structures and payload fairings. For the ESA Copernicus Sentinel-2 Earth observation satellites, RUAG Space provided the primary structure including the carbon-fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) structural panels, the central cone, and the thermal control hardware. The Sentinel-2 spacecraft weighs 1177 kg at launch and carries a MultiSpectral Instrument (MSI) providing 13-band imagery at up to 10 m resolution. Sentinel-2A launched in June 2015 and Sentinel-2B in March 2017 on Vega rockets. RUAG Space also supplies structures for Sentinel-1, Sentinel-3, Sentinel-5P, and many commercial GEO telecom satellites. The company provides one in three satellites launched in Europe with structural components.
