About
Modification of the RD120 liquid rocket engine with afterburning of oxidizing gas for the upper stages. Fuel: oxygen + kerosene. A number of new technologies are widely used in engine design. The basic engine RD-120 was developed in 1976-1985. The first launch of the Zenit launch vehicle with the RD-120 engine was performed on April 13, 1985. The modernized RD-120 engine: thrust up to 93 tf is boosted. The first launch of the Zenit launch vehicle with the boosted RD-120 engine under the Sea Launch program was completed on February 28, 2005. A total of 295 engines were manufactured, 588 bench fire tests were conducted with an operating time of 141608 s.
