About
The Load-bearing Structure of the Enclosure Type 3 is a cylindrical grid shell made from carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) with two interface rings, produced by Glavkosmos for spacecraft bus construction. Its purpose is mounting spacecraft subsystem structural elements and equipment, forming the primary load-bearing shell of the spacecraft enclosure. It has been flight-qualified since 2000 and can accommodate a high-pressure metal-xenon tank unit. This configuration has a 7.5-degree angle between intersection nodes of spiral fins and 58.9 degrees between adjacent spiral fins, with spiral fin thickness of 3±1 mm, circumferential fin thickness of 3±1 mm and longitudinal fin thickness of 4.2±1 mm; the upper interface ring uses CFRP based on M46J fiber while the lower ring uses B95 aluminum alloy. Glavkosmos can adapt the design to individual customer requirements on request.
