About
SCOT (Space Camera for Object Tracking) is Digantara’s inaugural, purpose-built Space Domain Awareness satellite designed to detect, track, and characterize Resident Space Objects directly from orbit rather than from the ground. It carries an electro-optical space-surveillance payload and operates in a sun-synchronous Low Earth Orbit, giving it continuous, weather- and geography-independent visibility of the orbital environment compared to ground-based telescopes and radars. SCOT is engineered to detect and track objects down to roughly 5 cm in size with a high revisit rate, supporting collision-avoidance, space-traffic management, and national-security space-monitoring use cases. The satellite launched on 14 January 2025 aboard SpaceX’s Transporter-12 rideshare mission, achieved first light on 8 March 2025, and was subsequently commissioned as an operational asset, marking it as one of the world’s first commercial SSA satellites. As of mid-2026, SCOT is operational and forms the first mission in Digantara’s planned SCOT series/fleet of electro-optical and LiDAR space-surveillance satellites, with additional satellites planned for launch through 2026-27.
